Try asking a non-Dane to say “rødgrød med fløde”. It’s a Danish dessert, and being able to say it correctly is a rite of passage if you’re learning the language.

About

Hello, I’m Charlotte

I’m Danish, but I lived, worked and raised a family in London for 25 years before moving back to Denmark. I worked in advertising there before studying for a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in occupational psychology.

I’ve taught for 22 years, 18 of those at an international school in Odense, and it has given me a real sense of what it’s like to navigate a new language and culture, not just in the classroom, but at work and in everyday life. That’s where Rødgrød came from.

I teach language, but most of what I’m doing is helping people feel confident using it. Every lesson is built around you and your language needs.

I do translation too, between English and Danish. Lately that’s included translating a company website into English and a brochure specifically aimed at children.
